History of the Motorcycle Jacket
In 1928, a Russian immigrant named Irving Schott, designed the
first leather motorcycle jackets and called it the "Perfecto" after
his favorite cigar. He and his brother were also the first to put a
zipper in leather apparel jackets. The "Perfecto" became a symbol of
excitement, danger and adventure to a new generation.
Then came
the war of all wars ,WWII. The Schott brothers came up with the
"Bomber" jacket, and the rest, as they say, is history. After WWII, a
new breed of Americans came strutting their "stuff". Thanks to
Hollywood and stars such as Marlin Brando and James Dean, it was
"cool" to be a rebel and wear leather motorcycle apparel and
motorcycle leather accessories.
Today
motorcycle leather goods and accessories are more popular and broadened out to
reach all generations. Men, women and children want to be "cool" and
strut their "stuff". You could almost say we are supplying a little
bit of "Americana".
